I lost 3 hours worth of work. I mistakenly clicked "new model" thinking that my current model would be moved to the background beneath the new document. NO. work gone. Regardless of that screw up - I clicked the save button and I get a java exception - so I would've been screwed anyway. :-(

Very nice ER tool, it has been my tool of choice when designing database schemas is required. It has some drawbacks in user friendlyness, but it works great to get the job done!

The following applies to the Eclipse plug-in. It's a useful tool, and it's free. But it has some limitations and rough edges. The interface for adding schema info is not as easy to use as other free ER Modeling tools, and if you don't enter the info correctly, you see an ugly stack trace in the window and you lose all the info you entered for that item. The limitation that led me to choose a different free ER modeling tool, however, was that it doesn't support Apache Derby. I like the SQL preview view, which I don't have in the tool I selected, and the capability to create DB documentation is a plus (this wasn't included in the free edition of the tool I selected).
