Welcome to the MJP Lab Repository on Sourceforge. This is a site where the Modernist Journals Project is making available to the public a sampling of the catalogue and text transcript files for the journals we have digitized, along with some datasets we've created from those files. The site is also linked to a new website—The MJP Lab—where we are posting visualizations of MJP data and experimenting with our journal datasets. The MJP Lab and the Repository on Sourceforge will ultimately supplement the MJP search pages. The files that we are currently making available on this site come from the following journals:

• Blast: Review of the Great English Vortex: both issues, from 1914 and 1915
• The Blue Review: Literature Drama Art Music: all three issues from 1913 (TEI files pending)
• The Crisis: A Record of the Darker Races: the first twelve years (24+ volumes and 146 issues, plus two supplements) from November 1910 through December 1922
• The Egoist: An Individualist Review: all six volumes (and 74 issues) from 1914 to 1919
• The Freewoman: A Weekly Feminist Review: both volumes (and 47 issues) from 1911 to 1912
• The Little Review: the first nine years (nine volumes, 73 issues) from 1914 to 1922
• The Masses: all 79 issues (volumes 1 through 10) from 1911 to 1917
• The New Freewoman: An Individualist Review: all 13 issues, from 1913
• Others: A Magazine of the New Verse: all fives volumes (and 26 issues) from 1915 to 1919
• Poetry: A Magazine of Verse: the first 20.5 volumes (and 123 issues) from 1912 through 1922
• Rhythm: Art Music Literature: all 14 issues (and both volumes) from 1911 to 1913 (TEI files pending)
• The Seven Arts: both volumes (12 issues, plus one supplement) from Nov. 1916 to Oct. 1917
• The Tyro: A Review of the Arts of Painting Sculpture and Design: both issues, from 1921 and 1922

On the Downloads page, you'll find a folder for each the journals above that contains the following five items:

• a folder containing all of the MODS files for the journal. These are xml files that contain, issue by issue, the catalogue information that the MJP staff has composed about the contents of the magazine; the MOD files provide the basis for metadata searching on the MJP website.
• a folder containing all of the TEI text transcripts for the journal. These are xml files that contain the OCRed text transcripts (which we've only slightly marked up in TEI) of individual issues of the journal; the TEI files provide the basis for full-text searching on the MJP website.
• three .txt datasets that we've derived from the MODS files for the journal. These datasets offer very accessible, plain-text versions of the MJP's catalogue information. Click here for more information about them, and here on how to use them.

In January 2018, we also added to the Downloads page a folder of datasets for the "Chicago Modernism" project at the MJP. You can download a zip folder that contains all eight .txt files (which offer residence information about the contributors to Poetry magazine and The Little Review) or download separately each of the individual files, which are also available here.
