#4 unlocking locked SIM issue

For some reason there are issues with MIUI and my SIM being pin locked. It either detects it is locked on boot and prompts for a pin, but doesnt accept the pin and keeps repeating the prompt (after 10 fails it still doesnt PUK lock it either), or it doesnt prompt to be unlocked and just stays as 'no service'.

When unlocking the SIM in the settings panel, it accepts the PIN correctly and unlocks it, but still there is no service until the phone is reset. Once the phone boots with no SIM lock, it works normally and registers on the network.

I have tried cyanogen and not had SIM lock issues. Similarly with the stock samsung firmware i have not experienced any issues.
