Good morning. I just downloaded the new release of MiKTeX 2.9 Version 4236 2011-08-07. I still have the problem whenI run LaTeX to produce a dvi file : Windows API error 1113: No mapping for the Unicode character exists in the target multi-byte code page. I am using Babel, French. Good morning, I experience the same problem since updating my miktex installation this morning. Until then it had worked just fine. Neither my name nor any path in the directories uses accents or non-ASCII-codes anything like that., as far as I can judge Deinstallation of Miktex failed due to the API 113 error. "Manual" deinstallation and reinstallation of a version 2.9.4321 does not improve my situation at all. I use babel [ngerman], miktex version as stated above, on a WinXP machine. I appreciate any help. And it's urgend, my diploma thesis can't wait. Better invest it in the investigation of the source of the problem.
