It'd be nice if mediainfo-gui came with a settings page to set in which format the output should always be. [ref bug 776]
Actually, I transformed bug 776 to feature request 420. Didn't you received emails about that?
this ticket is still a bug report, not the right place.
Alternatively it could just use the last format used.
This is a different request. Please open a new request for this one.
But currently, the default is to use the settings from the preferences panel, isn't it enough?

The problem is that the "preferences panel" is not present on all systems, eg. on my Ubuntu box I can only see File, View, Debug and Help. When I change the View option and then close mediainfo-gui, it will always open as 'easy'.
Should I open a bug for that?

I understood: you are on Linux. the preference panel is not yet implemented on Linux (the current GUI is more or less a proof of concept, a cross-platform full-featured GUI is on the ToDo-list but not a priority for me, the main developer)

Sorry, I missed that bug, will follow it.

No need, it is common to the cross-platform GUI project (the Windows version already has it, but the code is not cross platform)
Ohh I see what happened and why I couldn't see bug 776 any more, thanks about it.
I'm aware of the difficulties of crossplatform guis, that's why I was proposing this trick of "view as last mode" preference.
