#23 Remove dependency on RJB's build of Merlin

The source code contains lines that begin with '#' as a comment. This style of comment aligns the opcode in the same way as uncommented code.
It was a feature added by Richard to his build of Merlin v4.12 Z09
These comments can be replaced by *<spaces> to have the same effect without needing the customised build of Merlin.

To investigate: whether the <spaces> survive checking out from CVS and the subsequent FIXS which is necessary to convert back to a Merlin source file.
