Hello from the Czech Republic, I just wanted to report bugs in the magicor game (1/2021). For some reasons, the tubes are not working for me (v1.1: I tried Debian 10, Ubuntu 20.04, ArchLinux). I am using older python 2.7 when I tried the source codes. Heya! Well, doing graphics, audio, music and core programming is a lot, I spent several months on the first one. I was thinking of rustling up a bigger team, I have one graphics coder, MAYBE, a few creative musicians and I'm looking for an artist. Looking good. Very nice indeed. When I first started I didn't think the end result would be anything as good as this and the finished package really have you guys to thank for the high quality. Well done! I'm looking for a new project since I have more time available for personal endavours, but it seems puzzles are out and huge 3d games are in. Anybody up for a sequel with OpenGL rendering, shaders and the whole blammo wammo? :) Still 2D, but better rendering. We would design a new game engine as well, maybe a more modular design to allow easier customization of layout, controls, states and added features. Any takers? r241 trunk - fix pygame 1.8.1 mixer.music crash Exercised in windows both with pygame 1.7.1 and 1.8.1, no crashes. Linux should be unaffected, but better to test, just in case. Specifically music changes must be exerciced, thats the only change. Peter, after tests in Linux maybe you can update the source package ? from the commit text: workaround for pygame 1.8.1 mixer.music crash In the old code to start - change the music, a call to pygame.mixer.music.play() was issued; That turns to crash ( at least in windows ) with pygame 1.8.1 It was confirmed as a pygame bug, see thread http://news.gmane.org/find-root.php?message_id=%3cf5f20e3a0807301333x6b51a516t17d3fb9344aed909%40mail.gmail.com%3e A workaround is to stop the music, wait some time, start the music. Test runs with pygame 1.8.1.rc3 crashes on windows XP. Magicor crashes when trying to 'esc' from the levelselect menu to the main menu. It is a pygame-SDL issue aparently; I posting in the pygame mailing list, with test code that isolates the problem and will see if can get a workaround. If you are not subscripted and want to follow, go to www.gmane.org and search for magicor. new windows installer includes the editor and dependencies. At the moment seems that sourceforge is too busy to accept uploads, will try tomorrow. Recently SVN had a forced password change, after this I cannot commit to the svn repos, but I've made the new snow song and have changed all snow levels to incorporate music (ice.xm and ice2.xm). I'll probably add something new for the Pompei theme as well, but I won't be able to check this in until the authentication problem with sourceforge is resolved. (I can login on my regular account with the new password) Are we merging 1.1rc1 with trunk? Where should the new material go? /Peter |
