#5 Wrongly defaults to syncing with 'Personal' calendar

It seems that regardless of setting a different calendar to sync (in my case: 'Work'), after application restarts the syncing choice reverts to 'Personal' google calendar.
Are you still using version 1.6? If so, this is a known bug that has been fixed in later versions. Unfortunately, the later versions have other bugs and it is not ready for release.
There is a workaround. Open the CalSync.settings file and fine the <defaultCalendar> setting. Change the setting to match your calendar name similar to below.
