Hi,
I think Linpha is such a great program, that it is a
shame, that it hasn't (as far as I can tell) got
precaching. When viewing in slideshow-mode, the next
image is downloaded, while the current is viewed. Very
neat and I have only seen it in a few other php-albums
and they lack a lot of other nice features that Linpha
has got.
Why not do the same when viewing normal? Usually, when
I view images I browse through albums, pick an
interesting imagethumb and click it. Then I see the
larger version of that image and when I have seen
enough I would click the "next" arrow to see the next
image in the current album since the current image was
interesting. But then I have to wait for the download.
My suggestion is to have Linpha download the image in
question, when I click on a thumb and then immediatly
continue to download the next image in the background
resulting in very fast rendering of the next image,
when I click the "next" arrow.
Perhaps it should download not only the next image in
the background but also the previous, so that I can
click both forward and backward and not have to wait
very long.
Then again, perhaps this would use too much bandwidth
compared to the frequency the average user chooses to
click backward instead of forward.
I hope you can use my thoughts :-) Looking forward to
v. 2.0 of he greatest php-album IMHO.

if you just want to try it, you could download the latest
snapshot from here:
www.angehrn.com/tmp/linpha2.zip
but please install it in another folder and in another database
there is currently no possibility to update from linpha1

cool, I will do that! Thanks for the opportunity - If you
want I can give feedback and if you are all set (I can
imagine that changes in the middle of a bigger script can
cause a mess) I will just enjoy the preview and play around
with it.
cheers
