#2 Build Errors using gcc 3.3.2

I get a couple of errors using
gcc (GCC) 3.3.2 20031218 (Gentoo Linux 3.3.2-r5,
propolice-3.3-7)
to build; removing "-pedantic" and explicitly casting
some pointer types solved the problem form me.
Have a look at the patch.
