Support for Windows 95/98/ME discontinued

To support multiple languages modern software, as LenMus, is developed using the Unicode standard. Unicode works on Windows NT/2000/XP/Vista, but not on older versions (Windows 95/98/Me). Therefore, supporting Windows 95/98/Me requires us to deal with different encodings and this, in turns, causes a lot of additional work for encoding conversion of all eMusicBooks and other files, some program code variations, and more additional testing.

Current LenMus program download figures shows that the Windows 95/98/Me version download is barely 5% of total downloads. Therefore, as the LenMus team is really reduced, we have decided not to continue supporting Window 95/98/Me and devote the saved time to other project activities and to advance with the Linux version.

Therefore, next LenMus version 3.5, to be released in short time, will be available only for Windows NT/200/XP/Vista.

This has been a pragmatic decision to try to make better usage of our scarce development resources. But in case there were demand to continue supporting Windows 95/98/Me we could reconsider this decision.
