#901 Removed Functionality: Tax calculation on AR/AP transaction enter

Hi,
When I enter a new AP/AR transaction and enter an amount, after the update the tax not generated automaticaly, I have to enter manually.
I think, it is good to get it automatically calculated if the input field is empty and keep the entered value, if something entered (for example due to rounding).

This was removed in 1.3 because it is too easy to get the calculations wrong since there isn't enough information regarding what lines to apply the taxes to. We need to think through the issue (probably for 1.5).

I am going to close this as "invalid" for now, because this was, as currently implemented, somewhat problematic (and caused some problems for users). In 1.5 my recommendation is that we rethink the interface a bit:

1. Checkboxes to determine which lines go into a calculated tax, and
2. Buttons by the tax to calculate it.

This would allow the control required without the problems currently associated with it.

So I agree we need the functionality. But the current interface doesn't provide enough information to do this safely.

expecting to be fixed in 1.5, but fixes will prob. not be backportable to 1.3 and 1.4, but setting version as documentation that this is a known issue.

Hi,

Not knowing 1.2, I wonder how this is supposed to get fixed. In the NL, we
have 2 tax rates. How is a transaction supposed to know which one applies?

I believe this has been fixed for 1.4.17
