There is an unfortunate feature that Kiax for Window
has - if you reinstall an audio driver then invariably
Kiax will never open properly. It just hangs without
opening its main window.
The only way to fix is to uninstall, manually delete
the KLCU/Software/kiax.org tree, then reinstall.
Naturally one has to enter all of ones settings all
over again.
I suspect that kiax is registering something fairly
low-level about the audio driver and doesn't do proper
checks on startup.
Anyhow once that bug is fixed all you need to do is put
some audio microphone and volume controls in Kiax and
it will suddenly become usable.

Quite strange, but possible. Kiax isnt doing anything low-level. Instead, it saves in the prefs only the default number of your sound device, the way PortAdio layer has discovered it. If you reinstall driver or add new audio device it is possible that this order is replaced. This might be solved if Kiax stores not only the order ID but also the name of the device and at start-up to probe them. I have to check if this is possible with the current PortAudio layer. Thanks for the report.
