I use multiple kdbx files to separate private/business/per-customer passwords and typically have 2 or 3 kdbx files open at the same time.
When the files are all locked (e.g. due to "lock workspace after KeePass inactivity"), the first next use of the Global AutoType key (typically Ctrl+Alt+A) shows the Open Database dialog box of one (for the user) random kdbx file. When it is not the correct one you need many actions to enter the password for the intended file: close initial dialog, open kdb2 from taskbar, close same dialogbox again, select correct password file.t
May I suggest improvement in this area? e.g.:
1) the password dialog shows all locked files as tabs
2) the password dialog shows a dropdown button to select the correct locked file (sketched in image 1)
3) the password dialog shows fields for all locked files (sketched in image 2)
4) all possible password dialogs are shown in separate dialog windows
The solution is to use KeeAutoExec and the Activate Database trigger.

The trigger is required to make your master DB active when you unlock - but you've already figured that out. :)
