This message has appeared to me like twice in more than one month and I haven't been able to see the real reason why it occurs. Just right click and choose 'login & check mail' and see what happens.
I'm going to keep this ticket open until you reply to confirm that it works when trying to login again.

After recompiling as described in comment 2007-06-20 12:13 and reproducing the issue,
/tmp/gmail_login.html contains the following:
Your browser's cookie functionality is turned off. Please turn it on.
In facts I had the cookies disabled in konqueror, enabling the cookies for google.com domain did the trick.
Hope it helps someone else as well.

Please edit gmail.cpp and replace
#undef DUMP_PAGES
with
#define DUMP_PAGES
After that, recompile and launch. If the error occurs a file named gmail_login.html will be located at /tmp; please upload that file

Thanks for the information.
I've added it to the help page[1] and I'll try to make KCheckGMail whether cookies are enabled or not.
