I used jose in an intel pc, Now i've changed my pc (is an amd athlon processor). I can't open my old files (mygames.ini) in the new pc.
Is there any way to read them in the new pc? Is it possible to convert that file in a pgn one? Thank you very much and sorry about my english
It is unlikely that your problem is caused by the switch to an AMD processor from an Intel processor. Are you using the same operating system? Switching from Windows XP to Windows Vista, for instance, might result in security problems accessing your data files. But in general, once Jose is installed under Vista, it should make no difference. If you switched from Windows to Linux, that may present other problems that I am not familiar with.
I noted that you mentioned "mygames.ini" in your message. To my knowledge, Jose does not create a file of this name. I do not have such a file on my Windows XP system under Jose, but do have a "mygames.ini" under "BabasChess." This may be part of your problem.
If I had to move my Jose installation to another PC, I would install Jose on the new PC from the original downloaded install file, then go back to the old PC and copy the MySQL database files, then write them to the same directory on the new PC, overwriting the files that Jose created when it was installed. That way, I would have a valid new install on the new PC, with my old game data from the old PC.
Here is the general layout of folders and MySql files that you should see on both PC's (my notes are in parentheses):
Directory of ...\Jose\database
starter.pgn (sample game files, not important)
Directory of ...\Jose\database\mysql
(yourPCname).err (I believe these get recreated, even if deleted)
db.lock (" " " " " " " " )
Directory of ...\Jose\database\mysql\jose
(THESE ARE THE FILES YOU NEED TO COPY FROM THE OLD TO NEW PC)
I hope this is of some help in getting you up and running!

Thanks your very much.
I'll try to copy de Mysql folder and I'll tell you.
However, I switched from linux to linux (ubuntu).
When I copied jose to a pen drive, in "mybases folder" there were some pgn archives and another archive 600games.pgi What is this.
It were also two "mygames" files: one in pgn (with only three games when I recorded about 100) and a "mygames.ini" file
When I downloaded again jose from the web, the program can't open the database window, and therefore can't save any game.
Anyway, I'll follow your kindly advices after a long praise and I'll comment.
