I've compiled all snapshots of ht://Dig 3.2 and all have
the problem that the db.words.db is empty. I tried
digging several pages but all show the same behavior. All
other db-files are correct.
In the config-file I only changed the "start_url" and
the "database_dir".
I compiled on WinNT 4.0 with the latest CygWin and GCC
3.2

What happens if you run rundig -v or rundig -vv ?

Please try using both of these two tests and report your results:

    Test 1: (add to htdig.conf)
    wordlist_compress: true
    wordlist_compress_zlib: true

    Test 2: (add to htdig.conf)
    wordlist_compress: false
    wordlist_compress_zlib: false

    Thanks! Neal

    Hi Neal!

I just tried your tests and test number 2 (disabeling the
compression) seams to work. I compiled release 3.2.0b5 on
my "old" cygwin and now i think it works but i'll have to do
some more tests. The output of the verbose-mode was
everytime the same, it was empty. By the way ... where can
I send my working binaries to so that you can put them on
    your server ?

The workaround used by Makus seems to work either for me --
I had the same problem under Win2k and GCC 3.3.1.

But, this means that we will be unable to have a compressed
words lists? Is zlib buggy in this platform?

    Thank you very much,
    Roberto.

The database code wasn't detecting that C:... is an
absolute file name. It should work now.
