#23 How do I customise the sidebar users see after logon

Please how do I customise the sidebar users see after they have logged in?
the sidebar.inc file seems to control it, but making changes to this file
does not seem to have any effect. For exaple, I would like to add
additional links to the sidebar, but cannot.

I used the (De)restrict to remove 'My Details' and 'My Preferences', but
that's about it.
Any help will be appreciated.
