Same problem here, with xmame 0.66.2 and gxmame 0.32 .
When I click on "Rebuild game list", gxmame crash.
Here's the output found on the console after the crash:

Message: Loaded 0 roms by 0 manufacturers covering 0 years.
Message: with 0 games supporting samples.
Message: games.ini not loaded, using default values
Message: catver not loaded, using default values

Segmentation fault

seg fault. don't think it has to do with an NFS mount, but
