I've run into an interesting problem with playing MKVs
within MPC. I'm running MPC 6.4.9.0 using the CCCP
package from matroska.org, which means I'm using the
Haali media splitter.

While making these files, I used MKVmerge GUI (also
gotten from matroska.org) to create the chapter files,
and saved them as XML. In the gui, there is both
fields for chapter start and chapter end. Unsure what
to do with that, I simply copied the start of the next
chapter into the end of the previous one. This worked
except that the last chapter had no end point.

The files mux fine, play fine for the most part, the
chapters work, subtitles, multiple audio streams,
everything. (I've attached the output from Media Info
to show you what most of these files look like). The
problem I run into is when I have multiple of these
files enqueued and playing them, at random it fails to
advance to the next media file. MPC LOOKS like it's
playing the same video again, but there's no sound no
video nothing. Any change in the play flow, pausing,
seeking, chapter skip, will cause the video to play
from that point forward as normal. Oldly enough I can
only produce this result while letting the video play
through normally, I can't cause it to hang by skipping
ahead to near the end of the file and watching from there.

I then thought that maybe it was the lack of a end
chapter field and made a batch where I put in the total
time of the specified file in the final chapter. This
had another undesired effect. It advanced to the next
file with no problem, but about 5 seconds too early. My
next batch were created with no chapter ends at all
throughout. This also was hanging as before, maybe
even more than before but I'm unsure of this.

None of this happens when you use the internal matroksa
splitter however, which led me to think maybe it was
the external haali media splitter. I made certain I
had the newest version and tested again still the same
activity. I then tested with Core Media Player. None
of the videos played with any ill effect, with the
exception of the ones that had a chapter end value in
the last chapter, they too were cut off before the
actual end of the video. So that leads me to believe
that's a more complex problem that's probably caused by
the external splitter.
