I've tried both version 1.3 and 1.3.1 - I click new scan, choose my hard drive and after about 1000 folders it crashes. I can send the crash log if required. It happens with both versions maybe a little quicker crashing with 1.3. - The app worked fine on this Mac previously but I also just updated to 10.6.3 so that could be related!

Please attach a crash log if you can. It hopefully will give some indication of what causes the crash. Also, it would be helpful if you could establish the repeatability of the crash. Does it always occur when scanning the same folder? If so, which one? (I realize that this is easier said than done. I should probably extend the application so that it optionally outputs verbosing logging information, which would be useful in cases like these).

Version 1.3.2 of the application, which has just been released can optionally generate detailed log messages while scanning. I suggest you download this and scan your harddrive with "logAll" enabled. You can do so by starting GrandPerspective as follows from a terminal window (assuming that you have mounted the 1.3.2 disk image):

    /Volumes/GrandPerspective\ 1.3.2/GrandPerspective.app/Contents/MacOS/GrandPerspective -logAll YES

This will generate a log message for each folder that is scanned. This makes it easy to find out if it is always the same folder where the crash occurs. Let me know how you get on.
