Using XP with sp3 on new incoming message. I get the icon in the systray, and an audio cue. Visual notification type is native. Gives a blank popup window titled Googsystray.error. Program is crashed after that, nothing in the event viewer. I'm not sure where googsystray keeps it's logs.

Yeah, I haven't implemented native (that is, done by googsystray) popups, so it probably does strange things if you select that :) If you want popups on messages right now you can install Snarl though, if it's installed and running you'll get an option to choose that.
