Requirements too steep for building on stable branch

Even after updating amy dependencies (gnutls and its components, autoconf, automake, m4, etc.), it is impossible to build this in any stable-branch distibution (CentOS 5, Scientific Linux, etc.).
Please consider reducing the dependencies on unnecessary components, such as gtk+, libgnomeui, libglade, etc.) to allow building on less bleeding-edge versions. It is OK to ask for current crypto, but the user inerface components should be possible to build w/ GTK+ 2.4.x, for example.

I'm sorry, but GTK+ 2.10.x, GConf 2.x, libgnomeui 2.4 and libglade 2.6 seem to be available in CentOS 5 (and some of them even CentOS 4) as I can see in http://rpm.pbone.net/
About gnutls, at least version 2.0 is needed, as gnoMint is very based on some of their last features. Sorry about this.
Nevertheless, unfortunately my resources are currently limited to two development Ubuntu 8.04 systems, one with x86 architecture, and the other one with amd64 architecture, so I am not able to test if gnoMint compiles against other older, "more stable" systems.
Please, notify about any particular problem or function that could be changed for making gnoMint to compile against older systems.
Thanks a lot.
