#147 Wishlist: Support for Direct Connect P2P protocol

Hi!

Direct Connect is probably the most used P2P protocol
in the scandinavian countries. I really think that having a
gift-dc plugin would be a great improvement: Converting
GiFTd in *the* universal P2P client software.

Note that there exists already at least on OpenSource
implementation of the DC protocol, from where most
details can be taken so that it could be done in very short
time.

I've started such plugin several months ago, but didn't have
much time to finish it. Anyway I've put the last version here:

It's still far from finished, currently it supports
connecting to one hub (specified in config-file) downloading
and uploading files and file-lists (user browsing). As giftd
doesn't have any support for chatting through the p2p
networks, gift-dc opens another port where the chat-messages
are forwarded using a simple protocol. There are also
several hacks which force giftd to handle files without a
hash (still common on DC) properly.
