I wish dialogs were not modal (ie, could
stay open). E.g. the print dialog: if
it were a "tool" dialog a la gimp, I could
print samples by just selecting a font and
then hitting "print" (provided it wouldn't
ask me everytime whether I want to overwrite
the "sample.ps" file :/).

It makes great sense, for instance to run an
instance of gv on ~/sample.ps with the option
to "watch" the file. Then, as new samples are
printed, gv shows it almost immediately. Right
now, this involves:

1 selecting a font
2 mousing in the "file" menu
3 selecting "print..."
4 stress about the options being really the
same as last time (e.g., print to file, not
printer)
5 hitting "print"
6 mousing to the dialog asking whether i
want to overwrite the "samples.ps" file
7 clicking "yes"

when it could be really only 2 clicks.
