Perhaps the description should be changedto reflect this (it doesn't appear to be a regulatory subunit as far as I can see, as it isn't part of the final complex?)
Yes, the 'protein binding involved in protein folding' is quite missleading, I have removed it and added the term for process 'proteasome assembly'. The name '26S Proteasome Non-ATPase Regulatory Subunit' is the one chosen by Uniprot, it is also called '26S Proteasome Subunit S5B'. It might have some indirect regulatory role in higher eukaryotes through TNF-a (PMID:22921402, Role of S5b/PSMD5 in Proteasome Inhibition Caused by TNF-a/NFkB in Higher Eukaryotes)
