Hello I installed:
0.7.4415 yesterday night.
I installed on a disk, with a DATA partition. Data partition is mounted under /mnt as UFS.
AFP works without problems after adjusting the permissions on the /mnt/Drive to User:staff (user is my suername well it is dmalloc).
However when I try to mount a SMB share on my Macintosh it says "Volume could not be mounted because it could not be found". This happens when Anonymous authenication is enabled.
I tested this on three different Macintosh computers the outcome is the same for all of them. Error code is "-6602" which is a generic failure to mount network share.
Local Auth does not work either.
Please let me know how I can help to further debug this for you.
Thank you
I failed to mention that -6602 is usually caused on the client, by a non-existent path in smb.conf on the server. However the config on the FReeNAS box seems fine.
..and some more added. I made sure the Workgroup on the NAS and the Macs are set to the same. I also ensured that there was no firewall active on the Macs. So far googling has not helped :)
Unfortunately my (altered) AppleTV only mounts smbfs so I shall do my best to help get this working. Vielen Dank.
Maybe increasing the debug level gives you some informations the the FreeNAS log files. You can ajust it via the WebGUI.

I investigated this a little further. It turns out that smbd never was allowed to chdir into /mnt/MainDisk/music (The share). This was fixed by doing a chmod -R 777 /mnt
which is not exactly something I would like to do. I guess smbd is not part of admin, but has its own group?
This is indeed a simple permissions problem, I just wonder how I can solve it sensibly.
Dankeschoen :)
