- in a separate column to the left of the channel name
- in the channel name box left to the channel name
how to do that? where to put the icons? what icon format, GIF, ICON…? what name must the icon have to be associated to the channel?

There is only one way to display icons, but in some of those screenshots the channels list has been made small so you can only see the icons, not the text.
Some listings contain icon links. In this case, FreeGuide will download them automatically.
Otherwise, right-click the channel name and click "Choose Icon".
