I've experienced screen corruption with FreeDOS 1.0 CD - the screen was virtually unreadable

It was run on old Pentium MMX 166Mhz machine with S3 Trio64V+
The same system had no corruption with Linux, MS-DOS and Windows in either Text mode and GUI.
However the same CD showed no (at least not so severe) on other my machines.

It is not a critical for me, but I thought you should be aware of this.

I'm also experiencing screen corruption on a Pentium 133MHz with an S3 Trio64V+ while Damn Small Linux and the Windows 98 I'm trying to replace both work.

(Though I did have to use the menu-based X configurator under Damn Small Linux and force a lower resolution so it didn't decide to prefer resolution over colour depth and drop me into a 256-colour mess.)

I've attached some screenshot-by-screenshot comparisons. (VirtualBox screenshots vs. darkened-room photos of the old PC's LCD)

This is a hard bug to track down since it involves actual hardware (not VM)

This bug was originally reported on FreeDOS 1.0, and Stephan's followup shows FreeDOS 1.1. Does this still happen on FreeDOS 1.2?

I'll see if I can find time to do a test within the next few days.

OK. This is going to take more time than I'd hoped.

I can't find my original FreeDOS 1.1 install CD and had to grab an all_cd.iso image off ibiblio. I also don't currently have another 8GB SD card for my "SD card as PATA hard drive" adapter.

As such, I'm not sure whether my inability to reproduce the problem in my control sample is because it was fixed between what I installed and all_cd.iso or because I dare not go far enough into the install process to trigger it.

I'll look into ordering another 8GB SD card tomorrow and make a note to continue rooting around for my original FreeDOS 1.1 CD.

Gah! Things keep coming up and this tab keeps getting buried and forgotten. I'll try to find time within the next week to choose and order a suitable SD card.
