Following problems have been observed with old versions of CTmouse, including the version from 1.0 distro:
- Doesn't work in BOCHS or QEMU
- Doesn't work with some (rare) hardware
- Memory corruption / crashes
All those are believed to be fixed in the v2.1 beta 4 version from 2008 July.
Remaining problems (rather because of "cloned" bad design than bug):
- Slow in protected mode
- GPF's in Ring 0 after a crash in PM
The memcorrupt BUG: http://sf.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1694431&group_id=40123&atid=427121
BTW, anyone can update or delete the separate CTMOUSE page ?
About the "memcorrupt bug" mentioned by dos386:
This "feature" of using XMS UMB when no real UMB were
available got removed in ctmouse 2.1 but to avoid it
in 1.9 and 2.0, you can use "do not load high" command
line options available in both of the older versions.
Correct me if I am wrong with this.
Here someone heavily complains about CTmouse at the forum of BTTR:
