I am a newbie to the opensource world.
We have a product developed in C++ and .Net which we plan to make opensource.
I wanted to know what procedure and standards do I have to follow or conform to make the product opensource.
I tried searching the net for the same but could not find anything concrete to start with. so any help is highly appreciated.

Clear intellectual properties, e.g. make sure it's all your own work.
Pick an open source license. Add the appropriate header information
Figure out how you are going to get and merge patches and features
Put it somewhere others can find it and use/add to it
publicize the release.

Clear intellectual properties, e.g. make sure it's all your own work.
