As you can clearly see in the attached screenshot, the icons in the tray are perfect while in the iconbar they are corrupted (less or more) the skype icon is totally destroyed for example.
I am running fb 1.0 gutsy gibbon deb package intel i915 video card and 24 bpp color.

Thanks,
marco

We obviously can't reproduce this, 'cause I think we would have noticed. Can you provide more information? Upload your init file, for example.

Is this on the second screen in a dual-head environment? If so, that's a known bug in imlib2.

    Hi mark-t,
now I created my account and I am logged in. Sorry for submitting an anonymous bug.

I have that problem on two installations of Ubuntu 7.10, one with a Thinkpad Z60m
(intel i915) and also on a TP X31 (radeon 7000 card).
The problem persists even if I delete my .fluxbox and I let FB recreate it.
So this is happening without mods to the default conf files.

Maybe this is something specific to the Gutsy package?
Or maybe something related to some library version.

I am going to install debian lenny to check if it persists.

Thanks for the work you do,
    marco

Just installed a clean Debian Lenny on a different partition: same problem.
I forgot to answer to the multi head setup question: no, I am using just the laptop lcd.

BTW I am using kernel 2.6.23.1.

    another update.
I just compiled the 1.0.0 tar from sourceforge and the result is
the same. So the problem is very likely outside fluxbox code and
it is a matter of some lib version that is common among debian
    testing and ubuntu gutsy.

    I can confirm this bug.
I met it just after upgrading from ubuntu feisty to gutsy...
As for me the only problem is that the background of the tranparent buttons is fuzzy...

Is this behavior restricted to a particular toolkit, such as gtk+ or Qt? If so, tell me what version you have, and I'll see if I can reproduce with that.

Uh, sorry, I thought of the icons in the toolbar (for the transparent buttons)
I'm using mainly gtk programs (i have gtk 2.10), but I don't think it would be toolkit-specific:
after having downgraded my fluxbox to pre3 I dont have this problem anymore, although nothing else changed on my system.

Actually, it occurred to me that this is probably related to the reports of pseudotransparency not working in xorg 7.3. I'll have to boot up my old laptop to test that out, as this one uses ati's closed source drivers, which don't work with the new xorg yet.

Yeah... But I didn't touch my xorg... I only recompiled the fluxbox 1.0pre3... and replaced the official ubuntu binary (fluxbox 1.0)....
So if I'm naiv enough, I could think that it would be enought to revert to the algorithm used in 1.0pre3... But of course I didn't read the source because I dont C it well:)

Well, yes, there's some incompatibility between xorg 7.3 and fluxbox 1.0, then. Fluxbox 1.0 works fine with older xorg, and older fluxbox works fine with xorg 7.3. Reverting the algorithm is probably a bad idea, since it was changed for a reason. It will require further investigation, not speculation.

I got my old laptop up and running xorg 7.3, but everything seems fine to me, including pseudotransparency. So, it must be more than just an incompatibility between the new xorg and fluxbox. My old laptop uses the open source radeon driver.

Anyway, somebody else is going to have to fix this, or at least contribute greatly. It would help out a lot if you could pinpoint the svn revision where things broke. I know that can take some effort, but I would really appreciate it.

I looked into it, and ubuntu's (and apparently debian's) fluxbox package has the SHAPE extension disabled. That would definitely cause this. I sent dopey a message. Until it gets fixed, you can use a previous package or try compiling the source yourself.
