I have been experimenting with FindBugs plug-ins like fb-contrib. This is all well and good for the project(s) that I am directly targeting for additional checks. What I am troubled with is that all the new detectors are running against projects that have not been configured for them. What I am looking for is the controlled release of detectors to new projects.
Within the global Eclipse settings for FindBugs, it would be nice to be able to set that new detectors are disabled by default for projects that are missing an on/off preference value for them. That is, if a project's "edu.umd.cs.findbugs.core.prefs" file does not contain a line for a detector, that detector would be disabled if this global setting was set to disable unconfigured detectors.
