In Exult, all characters move the same speed. In the original, whenever the game is in short-cursor mode (meaning there are hostiles nearby), movespeed of all monsters and characters (including the Avatar) is determined by their dexterity. (And if the user is not in combat mode, then the movespeed of the entire party is determined by the Avatar's movespeed.) This means that whether you can run away from a monster depends on what kind of monster it is and how high the Avatar's dexterity is - whereas currently in Exult, all monsters keep exactly apace and it's impossible to run away unless you outsmart their pathing and get them stuck somewhere.

Note that the Avatar's movespeed should not be affected by dexterity if in long-cursor mode (no hostiles nearby).
