No

ext2fsd version: 0.51
Windows Versions: Windows 8 Pro 64-bit
(Also remember having same issue with ext2fsd on Windows XP 32-bit)
Expected behaviour: double clicking on an .exe file executes the executable
Actual behaviour: Windows Error 0x800704b3

Description:
I have a freshly created directory with files (asassins creed 3 install files downloaded via uplay) on an ext3 partition. The files and directory were created in Windows and moved to the ext3 partition which is mounted using ext2fsd.
The files and the directory verify correctly (uplay hashsum check) i.e. can be read without problem.
The files can be copied without problem to and from ext3 to another ext3 as well as from ext3 to an ntfs volume.
No data corruption occurs during copying.
fsck.ext3 run on the volume under linux does not find any fault with the filesystem.
Directory depth is not an issue here as I tested with various path lenghts and depths.

Yet: While some executables in the folder (autorun.exe) can be launched without problem,
trying to run others (i.e. by double-clicking) like setup.exe or vcredist_x86_sp1.exe causes the following error message:

"Windows cannot access D:\<path>\setup.exe

Check the spelling of the name. Otherwise, there might be a problem with your network.

Details:
Error code: 0x800704b3
The network path was either typed incorrectly, does not exist or the network provider is not currently available.
Please try retyping the path or contact your network administrator"

    just to clarify:
If I copy setup.exe back to an ntfs volume It executes without any problems. Copying it back to the ext3 volume yields above error message when trying to execute it.

You have to start WebClient service (Win7 in my case) and this error will go away Computer->Manage->Services and Applictions->Services->WebClient. You can make it autostart if you wish.
