#92 Record Routing

I am running on a 1GHz Athlon-C processor with a WinTV
card, and SB Live! Platinum 5.1 sound card, which is
running OSS drivers (the emu10k1 drivers and
emu-tools-0.9.4). The audio jumper cable is run from
the audio-out (or line-out) on the tv card to the
line-in on the sound card. This works fine with vcr and
xawtv, audio on recordings are fine. However, when I
started using mencoder, I lost audio. In
troubleshooting it, I found that the audio was being
expected from the mic-in rather than the line-in. I'm
starting to think that the default input device is
expected to be the mic-in, but I need to record from
the line-in on the back. How do I set this up and make
it permanent?
