I have an ATI RAGE FURY MAXX 64Mb graphics card and Xfree86 3.3.6.
Truth is I could never make it work, I tryed all alternatives, even tryed
the Xfree86 4.0.
Can you anyone tell me if there's a way out of this? I certainly wouldn't
want to buy one of XIG drivers.

SUBJECT: [Dri-users] Rage 128 - All In Wonder 128 Pro - This chipset is
making me crazy.
After a couple of weeks of using XF 3.3.6, I decided to install XF 4.0,
to correct the many bugs I was experiencing in the SVGA server (even
with the patch in `fixes`). The binary & source releases at
xfree86.org, caused a very significant bug to appear. When I started X,
then switched to a console and back, my screen appears in very weird
shades of green/yellow/black.
Now that I have installed the DRI-CVS trunk, (June 20th) after I start
X, That same screen apears when I try to ctrl-alt-f1, or switch to any
other console. (IE a colour distorted representation of my X screen).
When I switch back to my X screen, each window is redrawn, and appears
in it`s correct pallet.
I`m not sure which is better at this point, access to text console, or
access to X. Can`t I have both somehow?
- The r128 module modprobes correctly, and xdpyinfo reports GLX,
SGI-GLX, and XFree86-DRI.
- Running 2.4.0test1
Also I seem to be unable to slect 32 bpp despite the DRI User Guide`s
suggestion "You may also set your screen depth to 32 for 32bpp mode". X
fails on startup siting the depth 32 display subsection as an
Thanks in advance. I hope this is the right place to ask for help. 8^)
