~Mesa/book/stencil works so far but the upper blue sphere is gone after screen refresh. When I move it partially out of the screen the blue sphere would be partially scratched and not redrawn.
Images are available.
~Mesa/samples/stencil and ~glut-3.7/progs/examples/stenciltst
'deliver' translucent masks if I move the windows around.
The frames of all (!!!) opened windows are damaged after that. Popup menues are partially transparent if they overlap with the areas were I have moved the two 'stencil' windows before.
That's enough for now.
Good Night.

Damaged frames happens also if you run StarOffice 5.1a and e. g. edit
a spreadsheet with inlined diagram. I guess SO uses OpenGL routines
for the diagrams, but I am not shure. I also saw this happend with a
OMS snapshot from mid August, but that might be a different problem.
I used the 4.0.1 sources from the XF86 site.
SO 5.1a related:
I found this some month ago, too.
Try '3D-OpenGL=0' in your ~/Office51/sofficerc file.
You get software only rendering without the damage.
SO 5.2 has the same bug.
I think it is a SO thing. They do not use double buffering (flickering) and some normals are falsely inverted.
The config file for 5.2 is now in ~/office52/user/sofficerc.
I sent a bug report to SUN Care but got no response, yet.
But SO is OSS, now...;-)
I believe the remaining problems with stencil are actually problems
reading/writing the Z buffer with Glide. Bill White will hopefully fix
this soon.
I think we can close this one.

Fixed in the new branch. I'm closing this bug.
