Currently DPR allows the user to setup DPR for direct read and write to the repository or to perform this using the DPR Server. It would be best if the option to directly read and write to the repository were removed to simplify the software and remove a few possible situations that could trap external users. The main trap at the moment is that the DPR Server allows for multiple repository locations which are stored in the repository_location table. If the user is using the option to read and write directly to the repository and then switches over to using the DPR Server then items previously loaded may not seem available. This is because an entry for the repository location of the current repository will need to be manually added and existing items linked to this repository in order for the DPR Server to find these items (this is not that difficult but is not currently made obvious when using the software). Also, leaving the option for direct read/write was intended as a temporary arrangement in case the Server did not perform suitably. This is not the case so it is no longer really needed (as the Server can be used locally fairly simply).
