I have upgraded to 1.1.14 to avoid another error I was getting and found the solution had been applied, so kind of hard to go backwards, will mean I'll be back to a version that breaks for a different reason.
However.... I have found that by splitting up my indexes into smaller folder based indexes I have isolated the crash to a certain folder, but, the stack trace does not give me any indication of which file might be causing the issue.
Is there any way of determining it? I might be able to build a regex to ignore it.

According to the crash output above, the crash is caused by an MS Office file in the newer format, i.e. docx, xlsx, pptx, and so on. That might help narrow it down.

but unfortunately it probably won't, our business is pretty much writing documents LOL, so the folder will be filled with up to 20,000 docs of various Microsoft types.

I see. In that case, I'll give you a modified version of the latest DocFetcher release that will help you track down the problematic file. Might take a few days though since I'm otherwise occupied right now.

This is the portable version of DocFetcher, and it will simply suppress the indexing crash when it occurs. If this works for you, the modification will be included in the next release.

Thank you for the prompt updates. I am working on rolling this tool out within the company for the Business Analysts to use for searching through 15 years of requirements documents, so it is very helpful, especially after Copernic limited their searching to local drives only!
I might start looking at building an implementation instruction using the portable version based on the ability to have indexes centrally located.
Great tool, thanks and keep up the good work!

I've uploaded a modified version of DocFetcher 1.1.14 to this location: http://docfetcher.sourceforge.net/docfetcher-1.1.14-portable.zip
This is the portable version of DocFetcher, and it will simply suppress the indexing crash when it occurs. If this works for you, the modification will be included in the next release.

Hi Quang,
update ran through and indexed the folder without issue
Cheers
Okay, it's fixed then. Thanks for reporting.

It's probably not a good idea to share the same index among multiple instances of DocFetcher due to known performance issues, as mentioned on this wiki page:
http://docfetcher.sourceforge.net/wiki/doku.php?id=tips_tricks
It's better to give each DocFetcher instance its own index.
Fixed in DocFetcher 1.1.15.
