Are there any plans to integrate djvulibre into xscanimage, quiteinsane, gimp, or imagemagick? It seens that this would be an excellent step for promoting and establishing the use of this image compression method.

I agree. I wrote a quick and dirty Gimp loading plugin available at http://donkey.dyndns.org/~yann/gimpdjvu.c but none to save yet. The shell script I used most recently for scanning is available at http://donkey.dyndns.org/~yann/scan.txt - the mask.pbm it refers to is a picture I used to eliminate extra columns from the scanner, as it scans at 300x600 dpi. This way c44 interpolates those pixels as a side effect of using a minimal number of bits for them.
