The selected file is not an avi file

I was making a very very very long recording session in camstudio and the file didn't save, I however successfully recovered the damaged temp file. When I try to open it DivFix++ says it's not an avi file... it is, it end with *.avi and I know it is an avi file. Isn't it supposed to fix this kind of problems? Why do some other commercial programs overcome this and this not huh?
Hi there,
First of all, think about what happen If you are rename abc.wmv file to abc.avi ?
Most of players could discard file name and read file type from file structure...
So, does it really avi file? I don't think... Please open that video file with HexEditor (for example http://wxhexeditor.sourceforge.net ) and look first 4 digit. If that is really an AVI file, file needed to start with "RIFF" text. Also analyze it if it's empty or not...
DivFix++ needed to fix your half saved avi files. But that file is TEMP file, not an actual AVI file. Also I don't know camstudio's temp file format. You can't guess it as AVI file from just looking the file name..
If you could reach that file to me, I can analyze and could told what could be happen to recover it. Or not.
Thanks...
