After installing AgryllCMS/DispcalGUI and ColorMunki software with my ColorMunki Dispaly, I receive the error "Error - new_disprd() failed with 'Instrument Access Failed'".

I have tried cleanly reinstalling everything several times and using AgryllCMS 1.7 and 1.6.3

Please do a debug run. Enable Argyll CMS diagnostic output in the "Options" menu and start a calibration/profile. Attach the log afterwards. Don't forget to disable diagnostic output again.

No "me too" posts please. I've already given instructions above how to acquire diagnostic information.

So it seems like an USB issue. Is the instrument connected to an USB 3.0 port? Can you try to connect the instrument to an USB 2.0 port (if available)? Does the vendor software work?

1st thanks a lot for your fast answers Florian.

Yes the vendor soft was working that's why I just wanted to verify the resulting profil . The error also occurs if I try to calibrate with dispcalGUI.

It was working before the software update done tonight when I launched it and on that same usb port.
I'll try to connect the colormunky colorimeter on another port to see what will happen and let ya know.

Maybe too obvious, but have you tried a reboot?

    Anonymous - 2015-09-02

Yes also did a reboot, same sadly.
Is there a way to get back to the previous DispcalGUI version that was working fine ?

    Florian Hoech - 2015-09-02

The problem is not related to dispcalGUI (all hardware access happens via Argyll CMS), so even downgrading it wouldn't help. What other changes have happened on the system? Something must have changed if it was working previously.

    Nope nothing has changed.
Just did the update as requested when I launched dispcalGUI tonight to check my new screen...
Colormunky software is still running fine as it did last month too...

Have you changed Argyll CMS version(s)? Installed any other software that accesses the instrument (the vendor software comes to mind)?

    Anonymous - 2015-09-02

No... let me check on that argyll version.
Thought updates would have been done on DispcalGUI and Argyll CMS files...

Currently dispcalGUI only updates itself, so Argyll CMS needs to be updated manually.

OK I'm downloading 1.8. That might be the cause then...
I'll let ya know in a few minutes.

Well I've updated to Argyll CMS 1.8 and changed the exe path into DispcalGUI to that new Argyll folder (bin) but I'm still getting that same error message. :(
I give up for tonight as I really don't know what could be the issue now.

Think I have found the issue : it was caused by the idisplay software still running in the windows taskbar even when closed.

    Mr. Hoech,
Same problem, new Thinkpad, Linux Mint 17.2, i1 Display Pro, DispcalGUI 3.0.4, Argyll 1.5.1. Ran argyll diagnostic attached. I notice that lsusb shows the scanner at bus 2 dev 10, but argyll is reporting bus 0 dev 10. there is no bus 0 in the file system.
    Thank you.

That's strange, but before long I will move the ticket system and forum from SourceForge to my own host anyway (hopefully this year).
I'd strongly recommend not posting your email address in plain form as it's likely to get picked up by random bots. I've edited your posts to make that less likely.

Old versions of Argyll CMS don't support newer hardware revisions of the i1DisplayPro. Updating to the recent version of Argyll CMS (currently 1.8.2) should help.
