I've been thinking about how great it would be to have a
WebDAV-based filesystem for some time, as it can be routed
directly through every firewall in existence (sometimes a
good thing! ;-)
Having SSL support would not only make it useful - it
would also be (more) secure. There aren't that many
network filesystems that provide full data encryption
(tcpfs and Samba-SSL are the only ones I can think of).
SSL + firewall transparency could make davfs extremely
useful in cross-company/campus partnerships...

yes, definately. My silly school only enables ssl'd dav due
to them being crazy about privacy etc. Only IE supports
ssl'd webdav and it would be real handy if davfs could to.

IMO, direct SSL support is important, but getting a stable
davfs is more important. Meanwhile, it's easy to use
stunnel to forward http requests to https...

I think making stable davfs version is more important then
adding SSL module. so, how about adding and supporting SSL
module after finished that.
