Windows 8.1. Tried installing the 64 bit version, run as admin, install "couldn't find the java runtime environment. JRE 8u31 is/was listed in the Programs and Features. I ran the JRE 8u31 install again, ran the install again as admin and it installed.
I'm only telling this because the JRE was already installed and I had run the install as admin. Re-installing the JRE seemed to "fix" the problem, whatever the problem was.
The program is running, now to learn how to use it.

Thanks for that. Could it be that you first had the 32bit version installed of Java?
