I am a C developer and has been using CUnit for some time and want to
contribute to it. So is the forum open to add any interested develpers? if so,
how can I join this community? (New to source forge, so don't know how things
work here!!!)

I made a tool to support the work with CUnit, called StubbornC. Maybe you can
check if it helps in your work with CUnit, give me some feedback, and if you
want to contribute there I will be happy.
