#47 Unable to change display orientation

Device: Archos 70 IT
To avoid display reformatting with every accidental turn of the device, chose Portrait orientation in Options. Then a few days later, purchased a carry-case for Archos and when device is inserted, the page is upside down. Tried to change it - switched to Sensor option, then back to Portrait but to no avail.
