Hello,
I'm running Gentoo 2006.0 with no-sources-2.6.17-rc3-r2
on my laptop IBM ThinkPad T22 (it's Pentium 3 900 MHz
with SpeedStep technology).
And I wanted to use cpufreqd to enable some powersaving
for my system but unfortunatelly I can't get it to work :(
On boot cpufreqd gives me an error:
cpufreq requires kernel to be configured with
CONFIG_CPU_FREQ
And I don't get it because I have this option set to
YES in my .config - I checked it twice - and I'm
running on right kernel - I'm sure about it.
So please someone help me with this problem.

Oh, sorry for the long time passed, SF didn't forwarded your
    report to me...

Anyway you probably just have to load some CPU driver from
kernel's cpufreq (most probably modprobe speedstep-ich
    should do it).

Also, don't forget to load governor modules as well
    (cpufreq_ondemand, cpufreq_performace, cpufreq_powersave at
    least).

    See if this page helps:

    bye
