My understanding is that reliance on sub transactions is what has made it difficult to port away from Oracle. So with a JDBC 3 driver, does this problem go away?
I also read at http://jdbc.postgresql.org/ a cryptic JDBC news headline "Jul 1 7.5 development build 303 - complete V3 protocol support "
Sounds encouraging to me.

Hi,
I've been reading at http://otn.oracle.com/tech/java/sqlj_jdbc/pdf/a96654.pdf that "The JDBC 3.0 specification supports savepoints, which offer finer demarcation
within transactions".
