We want to run a Compiere Server (on the same machine as the oracle db) behind a remote firewall.
How can I access the server with e.g. a net client?
ok, I read in this forum its only possible with http tunneling, but this isn't working, eaven I checked the "create objects on server" box. On the firewall I opened port 80, 1521, 443, 1630
but nothing seems working. often I have the error in login screen: "failed retrieving naming interface".
Can anybody help me? Have someone a server running behind a firewall and can conect it from outsde?
thanks,
mclichty

You have multiple options to make this work:
-VPN (imho the best one)
-Use HTTP tunneling
Even if you use "Server Siede Objects" the client needs to be able to access the DB (at least to test the connection....)
You can do this in two ways:
-use Oracle Connection Manager, and forward port 1630
-configure your Oracle database to use shared server mode, and foward port 1521
Anayway, It might be a good idea to get some background info on Oracle configuration issues (shared vs dedicated, listeners etc)
According to suggestions for ASP from compiere.com, you need a VPN solution.
